Trinity in the air and the main triumphants: which of the FlyStation athletes has amazed us in the Russian Cup 2019

11 medals have been won by FlyStation athletes in the Russian Indoor Skydiving Contenders Cup 2019: there are 3 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medals. The whole podium in D2W and D4W was taken by FlyStation teams - they left no chances to their rivals.

This competion was a triumpf for Diana Parmanina and Andrey Karabeshkin from the Shadows of FlyStation team. They flew most of the rounds clean and were very satisfied with their performance. The guys were calm and sure confident throughout the tournament.

"I knew that our main competition was team Kings of the Sky. They are young and talented guys", - said Andrey Karabeshkin. – "But in the final, they made a few mistakes and busted. As for us, we flew a slower pace, slower than needed for World competitions, for example, but clean. So we are the winners now!"

The moment that made spectators nervous was the battle with GoBro team from Moscow. Diana made a mistake in a free round. If the opponents flew stronger in that round then FlyStation athletes could've ended up in a battle for the third place only.

"We lost the pace", - Diana confessed. – "I don’t know how it looked like. But for me it felt very bad. I thought at that moment "Oh my God!". It was really scary! But in the end our rivals did not have a perfect round either!"

On top of D2W Andrey and Diana also took part in Freestyle competition. In the meantime it was Diana’s debut in this discipline. She was quite surprised to get the highest points in the first round (among athletes 18+). But still she was not good enough to win a medal.

"I decided to take part in this discipline after Andrey’s success in the last Championship, where he won the “audience choice” prize. Then I thought to myself: “Why not?", - said Diana. – "I had no time to really prepare this year, but Andrey almost insisted that I participate. He promised to prepare programs for me if I sign up. And I did. In the end Andrey made two compulsory programs for me, and I came up with a free routine were of my own".

"I just helped her to choose a music and explained the principles of the compulsories", - continued Andrey. – "And the free routine is her own work, her creation. Because in this type of program the personal strong sides really matter, those that only the competitor himself knows!"

Russian champion 2018 Olga Bakulina fought for her place on the podium of Freestyle. She really impressed all the spectators. She changed her appearance and program completely. A year before she would choose grey and white colors, and now she gives her preference to black.

"Some time ago I got a nickname Trinity from "Matrix". Because I look like that character when I'm flying", - Olga opened up. – "I even had a routine with the soundtrack from that movie. But I’ve never played up this character in details. So I decided to do that, to become “the woman in black"!"

The routine was saturated with Olga Bakulina’s signature stunts. There were lots of difficult elements: side-slide, hand up links and multiple breakers. All together they were pure in well-balanced program. One more time this athlete demonstrated one of her main advantages – her ability to do smooth transitions. Olga could easily find balance even where it seemed impossible.

"It is not perfect, but overall it is a sound performance. There is always something to improve", - Olga judges her program – "There were no fuck-ups, no control loss, no omitted elements. So I am pleased with my performance".
